How to setup an SSL Certificate on a Bitnami AWS EC2 Instance

1. Visit https://aws.amazon.com
2. Go to EC2 and Select the instance you want to SSH into
3. Click ‘Connect’ to obtain information about the instance
4. Open ‘Terminal’ on your Mac

5. Locate your pem file

cd downloads yourfilename.pem.txt

6. Connect the pem key to the terminal session

chmod 400 yourfilename.pem.txt

7. Copy and paste the ssh command from your EC2 connect page

ssh -i "yourfilename.pem.txt" ubuntu@ec2-1-234-567-8910.compute-1.amazonaws.com

8. To Install an SSL Certificate using the Letsencrypt service

sudo /opt/bitnami/letsencrypt/scripts/generate-certificate.sh -m info@youremail.com -d yourdomain.com -d www.yourdomain.com

9. type ‘Y” to make yourdomain.com your ‘common name’ or ‘root’
10. type ‘Y’ to accept the terms of service or TOS
11. type ‘Yes’ or “y” to renew your SSL every month
